Workshop Objectives
The aim of this 2 day-Workshop is to provide an open forum for the presentation and discussion of recent research and development results in technology, physics, modeling and characterization of advanced silicon devices.

Scientific Programme
The topics of interest for the Workshop are:

• Decananometer Si MOSFETs: physics, performance and reliability

• Alternative transistor architectures and novel Si-based devices including vertical MOSFET, SOI,  SiGe,  Double Gate and tunnelling structures

• Interconnects and their impact on circuit performance

• Advanced silicon process and material technologies for CMOS logic and memory  

• Thin and high-k dielectrics  

• Process and device characterization techniques for deep submicron technologies  

• Modeling and simulation of ULSI devices  

• Low power, high speed and high frequency applications

Papers
The ULIS 2003 programme will consist of oral presentations with contributed papers, four invited talks and a poster session on topics of high relevance in the field of advanced Si-based devices. Contributed papers complying with the specifications in the back of this page must be submitted electronically in the final form using one of the following formats: PDF or Postscript . Accepted contributions will be published in the Conference Proceedings.
The deadline for the electronic submission of  the camera ready paper is December 31, 2002.

Notification of acceptance and the programme of the ULIS Workshop will be sent at the end of January, 2003.

Location and Travel
Udine is well served by the "Ronchi dei Legionari" airport as well as by the "Venice, Marco Polo" airport. The ULIS 2003 Workshop will be held in the conference center of Palazzo Antonini located in the historic center of Udine, Italy.

Preparation of the camera-ready paper
The paper should be four pages. The text area should be 23.6 x 16 cm (9.23 x 6.3 inches) in double column format. The top margin should be 3 cm (1.2 inches); the left margin should be 2.5 cm (1 inch) for both A4 (29.7x21 cm) and US Letter (11 x 8.6 inches) pages.
